The Course Structure

During the course you will:

  • See large dairy, pig, and poultry units in operation.
  • Explore laboratory and dissection facilities.
  • Through a series of lectures and interactive practical sessions be given instruction on several species including cattle, horses, sheep, pigs, poultry, and dogs.
  • Be offered practical advice on completing application forms and preparing for interviews.
  • Have a 'mock' interview assessment with a former veterinary college senior lecturer.

A residential course spread over three days with all accommodation, meals, and transport between units and the accommodation provided. For dates times and costs please see below.

Your parents are also invited and encouraged to attend at the drop-off and pick-up times during the course. We know that they will have important questions about their role in supporting you and your choice.

The student will be requested to complete a UCAS form and provide a personal statement by a certain date, in order to obtain the maximum benefit from the course. It is in the student's best interest to ensure that this happens.

It is imperative you bring your clean wellies and waterproof coat and overtrousers!
